Default sentence that I am not sure about

Dear Teachers,

Do my sentences have any big problem? Some of the sentences are something unsure to me.

I learned of the position of clerk from him.

We had a talk on the details of it and I am very interested in learning handling the mails.

It is very valuable to me to expand my knowledge of it.

It will brought me into the practice of ...(a work)

The position will help my future career.

He show a high initiative in ...(something)

I had been learning ... (something) since I was eight.
