    Default dry mouth

One time my grandmother asked me in the middle of church, "Honey, why don't they ever play your kind of music here in church? This stuff they're playin' gives me dry mouth."

    * What does she mean by dry mouth?

Sometimes when people are uncomfortable, their mouth gets dry. She was saying she did not like the music. Perhaps she needed a drink.

It sounds like a saying from the old South, in the USA. From what book or story did you get that sentence?

Not really from a story/book but from a religious forum.

One guy posted this one, and I moved it here to be checked.
