Whatever the outcome of the trial, I will stand by you.
personally - I will stand by you, whatever the outcome of the trial.

It seems to me that what you're saying Twostep is what Tdol meant.
He told me it would be better if I took out the verb in the first part, ie. the part with "whatever" in it.
