    Default pronunciation of "chemist"

    I heard a teacher (a non-native speaker) pronouncing the first sound in "chemist"(pharmacy) like in "church". Is that possible? My dictionary states that you should pronounce it as "k".

    Yes, your right.. we pronounce the word chemist as [kem-ist]....
