Could anyone give me some sophisticated examples of phrases which talk about the past, the present, and the future? For instance, we use "in the past" to describe events that have happened; "currently,recently,now,nowadays" for the present; and " soon, later" for the future.

We don't use "recently" for present events. It is used for the past. :wink:
I can't think of anything sophisticated, but here goes:

past: some time ago, until quite recently, previously, earlier
present: at the moment, right now, at the present moment, at this very instant
future: in a while, in the near future, any time, before long, in a minute
