Default your understanding would be appreciated

Quote:
Please note that during the exam periods I may not reply as quickly, and / but your understanding would be appreciated.
Two questions:

1. Which conjugation should I use in this situation?

2. 'your understanding would be appreciated' - are there other ways to get the same message across? I sense a bit of awkwardness in this phrase, but I couldn't come up with better ones.

If you need more context, please let me know.

"and" is the one to use.

How about "your patience will be appreciated"?
