rewriting a sentence
"No team in the East has cracked the 60-point mark other than the Senators (30-14-4), but they have lost two straight and four of five while dealing with injuries to leading scorers Daniel Alfredsson and Dany Heatley".
Can we rewrite the above sentence as:
1. No team other than the Senators in the East has cracked the 60-point mark (30-14-4), but they have lost two straight and four of five while dealing with injuries to leading scorers Daniel Alfredsson and Dany Heatley.
2. No team in the East other than the Senators has cracked the 60-point mark (30-14-4), but they have lost two straight and four of five while dealing with injuries to leading scorers Daniel Alfredsson and Dany Heatley.
Do you think the reason 'in the East' comes right after 'No team' is that the writer is emphasizing the conference? However, #1 sentence is equivalent to the original one, I think.
