Dear All,

1)?It is *I* who *makes* you cry.

Which of the above are grammatically correct or, though incorrect
are informally acceptable?

Note, It is I (formal); It is me (informal). Since "is" functions as a linking verb, the words on either side of "is" should be equal, like this,

Subject = Subject
It (subject) is I (subject). OK, formal
It (subject) is me (object). Not OK, formal; OK, informal

Note also,

It is I who makes you cry.
==> The word 'who' represents a singular pronoun "I", so the verb agrees in singular number with "I".

Compare that with,

It is you (people) who make me cry.
==> he word "who" refers to a plural pronoun "you (people)" and so agrees in plural number with the verb "make".

Plural: It is you (people) who make me cry. :D
Singular: It is you who makes me cry. :D

6) is ambiguous. You can argue either way: singular "you who makes" or plural "you (people) who make".
