Question when do we wince?

"Meera was otherwise a brave girl I mean for her height (she was the shortest girl in her class), she could jump over the hugest of the puddles without even wincing."Is the use of wince here okay? I have used it here to describe her facial expression....is it necessarily associated with pain or distress? Is my usage wrong?

"Meera was otherwise a brave girl for her height. Even though she was the shortest in her class, she could jump over the biggest puddle without even wincing."

Yes, wincing is OK.

also -
. . .she would jump over the biggest puddle with no hesitation.

. . . she bravely jumped over the biggest puddles.
