Please, what's understood as a resident Jock?

Found in a reference to an American hit series, Beautiful People, from ABC. In there there is fellow named Jason who it is said to be a resident Jock at Brighton Academy. Not broadcasted this series at home.

By the way, he is also said to be one of the "BP's" What's that?

jock = a person whose job is to play music on a radio programme and who often says things that are not considered acceptable by most people during the programme OR a person who is extremely enthusiastic about sport

As to BPs, it would help to have a bit more context about this person.

In this case, I believe the "resident jock" refers to an athlete, a muscle-bound guy who is more interested in sports than academia.
