| 1. about satisfactory / satisfying His answer is safisfactory. :D => adjective derived from the noun satisfaction His answer is satisfying . :D => adjective, notably participle, derived from the verb satisfy 2. about satisfactorily / satisfyingly They have not satisfactorily answered my questions. :D => adverb derived from the adjective satisfactory They have not satisfyingly answered my questions. :( => adverb derived from the participle satisfying, but, satisfyingly means, gratify, please, whereas satisfactorily means, meet the need: EX: They have not met my needs. :D EX: They have not gratified/pleased me. OK, but not the meaning we want. :( Quote:
satisfactory (adj.) + -ily becomes an adverb satisfactorily. Here, an adjective becomes an adverb. :D |

| I always thank you for your kind replies. :) It's very clear now except one. I looked up "satisfyingly" in the Macmillan dictionary. It says "satisfyingly" is adverb. satisfying / adjective 1. making you feel pleased or happy: a satisfying result/achievement She finds writing poetry deeply satisfying. 2.a satisfying meal is one that makes you feel that you have eaten well and have eaten enough satisfyingly / adverb Macmillan Publishers Ltd. 2002 I guess "satisfactorily" is more common than "satisfyingly" Is it right? |

I heard of that typhoon. It passed the east coastline of Korea and then disappeared last weekend. Japan was in the middle of it for three days. In terms of Fahrenheit, what is about 40 degress there? Over 100, I guess. Take care of yourself. Health is everything. |

When I watch or listen to weather forecast, it is confusing because in the U.S you use a different system. Often I can't guess it is cool, cold, freezing cold, warm, hot, scorchingly hot. But I can guess that over 100 Fahrenheit is very hot. I heard that lasting over 100 is called "heat wave". Right? I think we have a kind of heat wave here in Korea and there in Japan. Anyway, the formula is very useful. I can have an exact number now. Thank you. :D |
