Default live check to check

what does "live check to check" mean?

the original text is
"On the other hand, money delivered to people who aren't in good financial shape - who are short on cash and living check to check - does double duty: It alleviates hardship and also pumps up consumer spending." from International Herald Tribune, Opinion's Column.

thanx :)

Default Re: live check to check

People who live from check to check (or paycheck to paycheck) don't have much in the way of savngs so they have to depend on the next check to make ends meet (pay their bills). They are likely to wind up in dire straits if they miss a check.
