Default turn one's nose up

The woman first acted as she turn her nose up at me and stayed silent for a while. Than she started to talk.

Is this sentences correct?

what is the meaning turn her nose up at (or to )someone... means she ignored it ... she didn't like it .. what ???

Longman Dict has the following defintion:
informal to refuse to accept something because you do not think it is good enough for you
e.g. My children turn their noses up at home cooking.
(not a teacher)
