hi
i would ike to know how to make difference when we heard some one say "festival" or "first of all" and also " I love you" or " Isle of view"
I reckon that "festival" and "first of all" are pretty close with a relaxed pronunciation. However, the 'r' of 'first' is a significant difference (unless you eat it away, as in some regions of the US).
As for "I love you", the verb is most often accented, whereas the "of" in "Isle of View" is not. If you stress the subject eg. "-- Is it John or you who loves me? -- I love you!", then I would say they sound more or less alike.
Teachers to confirm...
