" An historical moment" or " A historical moment"
Can anyone help with the above? I can't really figure out when to use 'an' and 'a' following the word 'historical'. I read "an historical moment" from some book and thought it sounded awkward to my ears. I have always thought 'a' was the right one to use. Now I don't know!!! Help!
Re: " An historical moment" or " A historical moment"
It is one of the arguable points.
Certain words in English, spelled with initial "h", were/are pronounced with a silent "h". These include horrible, hospital, host, hotel, human, humour, and the indefinite article "an" was used.
The current usage is increasingly to pronounce the "h"and to use "a" instead of "an".
