not necessarily.but generally you should use the present tense in description.

Wanted Dead or Alive Someone asks me to describe my family tree. And I begin saying...
My grandpa had two sons
Does this mean that those sons are no longer alive?

Re: Wanted Dead or Alive When you put it that way then I would say it could be interpreted as your Grandpa is no longer alive - therefore........he HAD 2 sons,
