Active Voice: Subject + Verb + Object
Passive Voice: Object + Verb + Subject
Active Voice Example
Sam ate the cookies.
Structure: Sam (subject), ate (Active verb), the cookies (object)
Passive Voice Example
The cookies were eaten by Sam.
Structure: The cookies (object), were eaten (Passive verb), by Sam (subject).
Note that, with Passive Voice the verb needs to be transitive (i.e. the verb needs to have an object, because in the Passive voice, the object of the verb that becomes the subject of the sentence.
All the best, :D
