Default A question.

Dear Sir:

In the sentence "He is a good boy" why should the verb "is" not get as 's' or 'es' attached to it when the subject "He" is in the third person and singular in number ?

Thank You.

rupok.

The verb "to be" is an irregular verb. That means that it does not follow the regular verb rules.

I am
You are
He/she/it is
We are
You are
They are

A regular verb would be:

I play
You play
He/she/it plays
We play
You play
They play.
