Default Did I show Vs Have I shown

I want to ask my friend whether i have shown the picture before or not?
which one of the following is right?

Did I show this to you?
OR

Please advice.

Hello Ravi.

You can use either one. Using 'have' is more polite/more formal and/or shows that you consider the 'showing' a more important event.

Hi,

I don't remember whether i have ever shown the picture to my friend or not?
In this context, is "Did I show this to you" right?
I feel, as it talks only about past tense and as it doesn't cover till now situation unlike the other statement(have I shown), it doesn't fit in this context.
Is it still right? If yes, could you please let me know the reason.

Thanks,
Ravi
