Before I answer your other question, it would help me to know whether the actual tears measure 50cm and 500cm or whether they are those distances away from a certain point in the fabric.

We can't use these five metres of fabric because of the tears at 50cm and 500cm.
Changed word order. you can also say 'this 5 metre stretch of fabric'.
