Default Others you have to qualify

Would anyone please explain(paraphrase) the following sentences in bold in easy English?

1. As you go through life in a business, there are a few things you learn and see so clearly and so consistently that you come to know them for certain. There aren't too many things like this. For many, you have to make room for exceptions. Others you have to qualify. My list of what I know for certain begins with this: Individuals of great commitment make the difference in business and in life.

Especially, what's the meaning of "qualify" there?

2. Artzt responded that two things needed to be done. "First we need to re-sample. We blew the fall mailing by dropping millions of two-ounce samples too late, along with the start of the Christmas mail. Postal carriers dumped millions in the waste cans, because the load on their backs was too heavy."

Thank you.

"For many, you have to make exceptions" - there are very few absolute facts - you will have to allow for slight variations and alterations in what you find out to match your own knowledge and experience.

Especially, what's the meaning of "qualify" there?

"Others you have to qualify
" = You add a rider to the fact: "You can sell anything to anyone at any time [so long as it is not midnight]".

We failed to make a successful Fall mailing because we sent out the samples too late - they were sent at the same time that the Christmas rush was starting.

Thank you.

It is no wonder that I couldn't understand the "others you have to qualify" part.

Thank you for the helpful explanation.
