Is it okay to split a paragraph when writing a two page letter?

A paragraph usually contains sentences that deal with one topic, and a new paragraph signals a change of topic. If you split your paragraph, will it interfere with the sense of the paragraph?

I would expect a two-page letter to contain several paragraphs.
