Default black and white cat

Which one is correct:
(two cats, the black cat and the white cat)
the black and the white cats, or the black and the white cat(but without "s")

Default Re: black and white cat

The second one is clear - two cats: the black and the white cat.

The first is not clear - could be any number of black and white cats
