operator
Hi there,
I am an telephone operator in a company. A manager from another department called a member of our staff from his extension line. Can I talk to my boss like this?
Mr Davidson, please listen to extension 101.
thanks

Re: operator
Mr Davidson, there's a call on extension 101.
Mr Davidson, there's a call for you on extension 101.
This is if you are putting the call through on a line which is extension 101, which could be a phone somewhere around an office where he happens to be.
However, if the phone of the person calling is extension 101,
then you would say,
Mr Davidson, extension 101 is calling.
