good day!
my niece asked me to help her with her English homework.
Her homework is to write a sentence using "understood you" as the simple subject.
UNDERSTANDING YOU/ TO UNDERSTAND YOU are possible but i just can't come up with a sentence using " understood you" as the simple subject.
hope you could help me.
thank you! :)
I don't think this is a major 'doing of someone's essay for them' as in some requests in this forum.
How about a misunderstanding being corrected, and saying:
"I'm sorry. I understood you to be saying that you ...(weren't going to go.)"
or
"Oh Ireland! I understood you were going to move to Iceland!.
However, 'you' is not, and I can't (in that construction of "understood you") see how 'you' could be made the subject either!

Perhaps I misunderstood what was being asked by "using 'understood you' as the simple subject."
Now the penny drops!
