Default Difference between 'was told' and 'had been' told ?

hi,
what is the difference between was told and had been told ?
I mean look at these two sentences

I was told that..........

I had been told ..............

What is the difference ........?

Can anyone help me..?

hi,

Both sentences are in the Passive voice. The former is in the Past Simple while the latter is in the Past Perfect.
