Could you please try to explain the meaning of 'being served papers'?
Sentence: I felt almost as though I was being served papers.
Thanks

To be served papers means that you are being summonsed to appear before a court of law.
It can produce feelings of guilt and embarrassment, so this person is saying that [whatever it is that happened] made them feel as if someone is accusing them of something.
Okay! "intimado" in Portuguese. Thank you Anglika!
