If I had to ask what was the number (10th or 12th) of a current president in the presidents' list, what would the question sound like?

I am not a teacher, but I'd say:

What position on the list occupies the current US President?

I have no idea!

To be honest, when posing this question to a classroom, it is usually asked with some prefacing information, such as "George Washington was the first president of the United States. What number president is George W. Bush?"
