Default dead set against / dead set on

Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough tell me whether I use proper the mentioned above expressions at the due places in the following sentences?

He’s dead set against that plan.

He’s dead set on a naval career so we had better let him go to a Naval Training College.

dead set against - Completely opposed to, in complet disagreement with; as in

“His parents were dead set against John's taking a year off from college.”

dead set on – determined to do,

“Bert, then fifteen and dead set on becoming a fisherman, might nevertheless be able to lend a hand now…”
“Matthew is dead set on keeping the house.”
“If you really are dead set on staying to help, there is something you could do.”

Thank you in advance for your efforts.

Regards.

V.
