It is very clear, but I don't like the phrase, "never been tension and ethnic conflicts," because tension and ethnic cannot both modify the noun conflicts. Try, "never been tension or ethnic conflicts..."
Hi, dear experts. Tell me, please, if this sounds OK in English:
"Turkish minority is another matter. There have never been tension and ethnic conflicts in Bulgaria, at least not such that could be witnessed in some other Balkan countries. However, minor conflicts do sometimes occur, but they are based on religion, not ethnicity or language. "

Thank you very much, mykwyner!
Thank you very much, David!!!
I am curious, snade17. What is the source for your quote? Is it a newspaper or magazine?

It is not a quote. I was given the text in Bulgarian by a company. They wanted me to translate it into English, and since I am not a professional translator, and I have never been abroad I wanted to know if my translation would be understandable.
