Default fewer? less?

what's the difference between fewer and less?

ex) i made fewer/less mistakes this time
the project is fewer/less complicated than the last one

please answer me~~~~

fewer(Adj) + Count Noun ==> fewer + friends
less(comparative of 'little',acting as an Adv) + Adjective ==> less + beautiful
less(comparative of 'little',acting as an Adj) + Uncount Noun ==> less + money


I eat less chocolate and fewer biscuits than I used to.
The project is less complicated, so I make fewer mistakes.
I spend less time as well. :D
