Lucie | There is no quick fix for learning new vocabulary.
You need a good English-English dictionary and a notebook. When you meet a new word, look up the word in the dictionary, write it and the meaning in your notebooks and then write several sentences using the word.
You can always post your writing here and see what people think. |

Lucie | 1. try to associate a new word with a situation.
2. There is a technique which works well with children as they have vivid imagination: the sound of a given word is often similar to a word in your native language. your job is to make up a funny story using both words. The funniest the story the better. You will be surprised how many words you will be able to remember. |

| | Re: Give me some advices to remenber new words quickly & accurately? hi,
You will find words easier to remember if you try to remember an example sentence using that word rather than the word on its own. And of course: REPETITION IS THE MOTHER OF SKILL.

| | Re: Give me some advices to remenber new words quickly & accurately? Some people carry cards with new words and look at them every time they have a couple of free minutes. You could also keep stickers with new words around your desk, on your fridge, bathroom mirror, etc.
The Internet is very useful: you can always look up a new word in a dictionary and keep a file with new words on the desktop (or use Microsoft Outlook Notes). |

| | Re: Give me some advices to remenber new words quickly & accurately? I entirely agree with the others.
Do not learn words seperately, put them into a context. I find it helpful to imagine a situation and keep the story in mind. It's easier then to recall a word or an expression.
And repeat, repeat, repeat. Write stories or mails. Read books.
You should discover your learning style.

Lucie | There's lots of good advice in this thread. As Anglika said, there's no quick fix. The important thing is to use words - and to do that you have to follow Anglika's advice and make a note of them. The fact of writing them down will help your learning. But if you write them down and forget them, that's no good. Write them down and then use them - either in writing or in speech - preferably both.
