1. He is almost a father.

Is the adverb almost modifying the noun father? May an adverb modify a noun?

2. Almost a father is he.

Is this sentence correct? Is the adverb modifying the same word as it is in sentence #1?

Hi

Almost is an adverb and is normally placed before the verb it modifies except with the verb to be where it is placed after it.

Your sentence 2 is therefore incorrect.
