I can't see much difference between the adjectives satisfying and satisfactory. :-(

Oh, I see. Thank you, I think I can understand the difference now.
I just have some other questions dealing with satisfaction:
What is the difference between "dissatisfied" and "unsatisfied"?
And what about "dissatisfactory" and "unsatisfactory", "dissatisfying" and "unsatisfying"?
Are there any differences at all?
I am always unsatisfied with my English as there is always something to improve= my English is good as for non-native speaker but I want more then good, I am dissatisfied.
I am dissatisfied with my level of Italian, as I have no time to learn and I do not know any simple words at all.
unsatisfacotry= it doesn't meet the minimum requirements
dissatisfactory= it doesn't meet the minimum requirements at all
unsatisfying=my English is so, it could be better and I want it to be so
dissatisfying- my Italian is so, it sucks;-)
un=not quite, not completely
dis=not at all, lack of
...tory=about minimum criteria
...ing=about the whole satisfaction or lack of it
Notice you can not say about people (now I am talking about endings) they are ...ing or ....tory but they are always ....ed
I know it all is confusing but I hope it is less so now;-)
Banderas, thank you very much. :-)
I just have a few questions to this topic:
I don't understand why you said that you are dissatisfied (with your English) - I highlighted in red. Why did you not say "I am unsatisfied"?
Here's the other question of mine: If one is not satisfied, is he or she unsatisfied or dissatisfied? If someone is dissatisfied, does it mean he or she is not satisfied?
now you are asking abou being not satsified, for me not satsified = unsatsified whereas dissatisfied is much more then not satisfied.
By the way I susspect that the thing with "not satisfied" is like with "impatient", "unhelpful" etc. one says not "helpful", " not patient" and so on, if you know what I mean.
I'm not a teacher, but I agree entirely. Unsatisfied is a passive absence of satisfaction - "I ate my dinner, but it left me unsatisfied, I need something more."
Dissatisfied is an active condition. It's not the mere absence of satisfaction, it's the presence of the opposite. "This meal was awful, cold and badly cooked. I am VERY dissatisfied".
It is so good to know that you sometimes agree with me though:-).
I have posted a new thread "it is you who", Stuart, your opinion is important to me. There is also a thread posted by someone called "Usage of I" where I asked native speakers something , If you are free, could you take a look, please?
Lenka, are you satisfied with our explanations?
Yes, I am satisfied now :). Thank you both.
