From, throw out, sharper
Webcast: Live from convention
I didn't get "from". Does it mean "The (GOP) convention makes our living better"?
Justice Department seeks to throw out major terror conviction
Does "throw out" mean "deny"?
Astronomers have discovered four new planets in a week's time, an exciting end-of-summer flurry that signals a sharper era in the hunt for new worlds.
What does "sharper' mean here?

Webcast: Live from convention Sounds like a newscast, and the reporter is on the scene at the convention - i.e., reporting live from the covention
Justice Department seeks to throw out major terror conviction The most likely scenario is as follows:
There was a trial. Sombody was convicted (found to be guilty) by a jury. JD wants a judge to overturn the verdict of the jury. JD seeks to have the conviction thrown out of court by the judge.
Astronomers have discovered four new planets in a week's time, an exciting end-of-summer flurry that signals a sharper era in the hunt for new worlds. Sharper doesn't work well here unless there is a context of competition among astronomers looking for new planets, resulting in a sharper era of competition[/b][/i]
