    Dear teachers,
    Please read the following sentence:
The indoor swimming pool seems to be a great deal more luxurious than .
    A. is necessary B. being necessary C. to be necessary D. it is necessary
The key is "A". Could you please explain why "D" isn't correct?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.

It is more than ("it") is necessary.
This "it" seems to be redundant in this kind of statement.

    Dear David,

I don't know. I simply find a subject is missing in that part. When I asked if "it is necessary" I meant to make it have a subject.
The indoor swimming pool seems to be a great deal more luxurious than it is necessary for it to be so luxurious?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.

    Dear banderas,

Thank you very much for your explanation. According to your explanation may I say:

If the instruction is "Choose the best answer" then since "it" seems to be redundant I should not choose it.
If the instruction is "Choose the correct answer" then both are correct.

The problem with me is that I can't analyze the structure of the one without "it". It seems to me this sentence does not have a subject.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.
