Default commodities / goods

Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough explain to me the difference between the two terms “commodities” and “goods”?

We are regular buyers of this commodity and request you to send us samples of different grades of Paraffin Wax stating your best prices and most favouurable terms of payment.

You can shop for bargains in clothes, cameras and electrical goods in modern malls.
There will still be spot checks for drugs and other illegal goods.
It doesn't pay out costs for expensive store displays since the goods are stored in boxes behind the counter.
From the 16th century onwards Birmingham's manufacturers have made and sold quality goods.

Nearly all exported products were primary commodities such as palm oil and cocoa, or copper and gold.
… the Mars bar as "a currency for our time" because it contains staple commodities including cocoa, vegetable fats, milk solids and sugar.
Its registered office is in Monrovia. I.B.C. trades worldwide buying and selling basic commodities such as timber, coal and cement.

Thank you in advance for your efforts.

Regards.

V.

My understanding is that you buy goods and trade commodities.

Quality of commodities is always the same.
Oalm oil and cocoa, or copper and gold (commodities) are produced by different producers but all the items have the same quality.
On the other hand, clothes and cameras (goods) have qualitative differentiation.

Hi Soup and Banderas,

This Is the Time for Thanking Both of You for your efforts to satisfy my curiousity.

I know by hearsay only that the word commodities implys different goods like raw materials and stuff, raw materials produced by agricultures, essencial commodities, semi-manufactured articles, half-finished materials, semi/ part-manufactured goods, ready for cook food,…

In my humble opinion "commodity" and "commodities" could be replaced always with the word "goods", while there is sometimes misusage to substitute commody or commodies for goods that is to say not always you may change the word "goods" with "commody" or "commodies".

I like to be precise.

Thank you again for your backing.

Regards.

V.
