Default Put me in my place

please describe the meaning/concept of this sentence.

Put me/her/you in my/her/your place.

do we use it to determine someone that you are not as important as you think you are.
or
do we use it to give someone his/her place/value which he/she deserves.
means we use it for degrading or giving suitable place.

put someone in his (or her) place: deflate and humble someone regarded as being presumptuous.

Generally, "to put someone in his place" has a negative connotation. It is often used when someone oversteps the bounds of politeness, or gets involved where he is not wanted.

The response to such behaviour or action is often to state that one will "put [the offender] in his place." It means to remind the person who has erred that he is out of bounds, and that his actions are not welcomed.
