Smile Usage of the word 'Urge'

Can we use 'Urge' for putting an important request?
I mean can we frame a sentence like "I urge all team members to provide the information as soon as possible" or it sounds rude and needs to be avoided?
Please guide me on this as I am little confused with usage of the word
Thanks

(Not a teacher)

To urge means to push a person or assert someone to do something.

You may use, "I urge all the team members to provide the information as soon as possible." It doesn't sound rude. It is used very often in the office memos or notices, atleast in India.

Alternatively, you may also use: "I request all the team members to provide the information as soon as possible."

Except - you may not have the right to 'request' them to do this particular thing.
