Default Usage of the word 'Urge'

Can we use the word 'urge' for putting an important request. I mean can we frame a sentence like ' I urge a team members to provide the information'
or it sounds rude and needs to be avoided.
Please guide me on this.
Thanks

Default Re: Usage of the word 'Urge'

It just means that you recommend something very strongly.

I can urge you to save room for dessert so you can try the wodnerful chocolate cake they serve at a restaurant, or urge you to give up a destructive habit.

There's nothing inherently rude about the word.
