attend and frequent
"According to a Crown filing, some of the accused who frequented the camp practised military-style exercises in camouflage gear and got training with a 9-mm weapon.".
hi there,
i have seen "to frequent" being used as "to attend". is it very formal English? how should I say during casual situations, please?
thanks.
PS: this text is an excerpt from an internet newspaper. is the word "practised" correct? should it be "practiced"?

American Heritage Dictionary - Cite This Source - Share This prac·tise (prāk'tĭs)
v. & n. Chiefly British
Variant of practice.
You can take a look at Dictionary.com when you have problems with words, it is a very useful site and I use it all the time.
I don't know the answer to the other question but I want to ask one as well for the teachers here. There are all sort of American variants to the British words. In a British exam, can I use American words in my compositions?

I think you can use American spelling on British exams, but Tdol would know for sure. You might want to send him a PM.

thanks a lot,
what is your opinion as for the level of formality, please?
is "to frequent" casual? do people use very often in informal talks?
do I sound cocky if I use it?
thanks again.

Re: attend and frequent
The verb frequent can be used in formal or informal speech or writing. Certainly, it is not slang.
