Default Is it understandable?

Hello everyone

I'd like to ask if the following sentence is understandable for English speakers:

Beginning from a kindergarten and to the end of one's life, a person was subjected to ideological influence.

Explanation: In the former Soviet Union, there was a very strict ideological system. Every person was subjected to this system, i.e. experienced its influence all his/her life. When one was in the kindergarten, when one was at work etc.

From kindergarten to the end of life, a person was subjected to ideological pressure.

OR "From birth to death,..."

Hi, as a Brit and mentor, but not a teacher, yes, your sentence is understandable.

Possible improvements?:
"In those days, a person would have been subjected to ideological influence from kindergarten to the end of their life."

You probably know this one:
We pretend to work, and they pretend to pay us.
A testament to the "success" of the system.

Yes, I've heard that one. Also, in Russia, there is a very popular expression:

The soldier sleeps, the service goes.
It's a literal translation from Russian. The expression means that a person is present at one's workplace and he/she is doing nothing, but the the employer still pays him/her.
