I always get confused as to which preposition should be used! Please suggest me some simple rules so that its easy to remember.

Why don't you have a look there for a brief introduction to in,on,at : prepostions of place
as well as there for when to use in or at ?

For in , on , at used as prepositions of time go there

For example:

I'll wait for at the shopping mall. or should it be, I'll wait for you in the shopping mall.

I am at the office. or is it, I am in the office?

As you might have seen in the reply, we have to use our discreation to choose an appropriate preposition which specifies the place'
'in' is used to specify position inside larger areas;
'at' is used specify an exact position in a larger area.
So the appropriate prepositions in the example sentences will be:
I'll wait for at the shopping mall.
I am in the office.
