Default speak with / speak to

Hi...

When you are talking to someone over the phone, do you say "May I speak/talk with ____" or "May I speak/talk to ____".

Which is more politically correct?

Thanks!

May I speak with...

It's not so much that it's PC, but that you may be put through and speak to the person, who says: "Look, I can't talk at the moment. Can I ring you back."

Look up the difference between 'speak' and 'talk'

If I will refer to Merriam-Webster, there's no clear difference between the 2.

Anywhow, quick question David: Why is it incorrect to say "may I speak to? or May I talk to/with" if it's a telephone conversation. Could u care to elaborate? Thanks!
