Hi sambistapt,

There are some more examples concerning he matter in question.

relent (v) = to moderate or change a position or course of action as a result of pressure: ease off, slacken, soften, weaken, yield. Idioms: givewayground. See strong/weak. To make or become less severe or extreme: moderate, mute, qualify, subdue, tame, temper, tone down

relent (v) = to change your attitude and become less strict or cruel towards someone [= give in]: Synonyms: yield, soften

The weather did not relent .

relinquish (v) = to retire from; give up or abandon.
to put aside or desist from (something practiced, professed, or intended)

to yield
This verb means letting something go or giving something up.

As yet, there is only speculation that Charles will relinquish his birthright.

Regards.

V.
