Could anyone show me the difference between both verbs? they seem quite similar to me I´d be thankful to those who could enlighten me on this issue

relinquish-give up
She relinquished control of the family investments to her son.
Her parents eventually relented and let her go to the party.

There are some more examples concerning he matter in question.

relent (v) = to moderate or change a position or course of action as a result of pressure: ease off, slacken, soften, weaken, yield. Idioms: givewayground. See strong/weak. To make or become less severe or extreme: moderate, mute, qualify, subdue, tame, temper, tone down

relent (v) = to change your attitude and become less strict or cruel towards someone [= give in]: Synonyms: yield, soften

At last her father relented and came to visit her.

relinquish (v) = to retire from; give up or abandon.
to put aside or desist from (something practiced, professed, or intended)
