Default soft money

Dear teachers,

Recently I read the NYT’s article “A New Channel for Soft Money Appears in Race”.

I know such names concerning the “money” as: counterfeit-money, earnest-money, easy-money, hush-money, marked-money, paper-money, pin-money, pocket-money, spending-money, prize-money, seed-money, tight-money, well-spent money, blood money, conscious money, tax money, mad money, bad money, good money, cheap money, coming money, current money, day-to-day money, dear money, demand money, earnest money, easy money, hard money, hot money, idle money, insurance money, international money, local money, lawful money, option money, paper money, pin money, public money, purchase money, ready money, real money, representative money, small money, smart money, subsidiary money, til money, time money, token money, uncovered paper money, universal mony, wild cat money but I don’t know the meaning of the “soft money”.

Would you be kind enough explain to me the meaning of the term “soft money”.

Thank you in adbance for your efforts.

Regards.

V.

It's part of how money is collected for political purposes.

See this: Howstuffworks "What is the difference between 'soft money' and 'hard money' campaign donations?"
