the differences between "how is everything with you ?""how are things?"and "how are you?“

How is everything?

1. Is 'everything' a singular idea or a plural concept? :D
2. Based on your answer on my former question; if you choose 'sigular idea,' then what be-verb(is/are) will you choose to go with 'everything'? :)

How are things?

1. Are 'things' a plural concept? :D
2. If yes, shouldn't it be friends with 'are'? :D

i appreciate your giving me immediate answer.you mean that the two sentences are nearly the same,and under different circumstances "how is everything with you "or "how are everything with you "could be used. and the same with the sentences how are things. i did not think of that before.
but could you trouble giving me some exact examples of the four sentences.
