at will
"The ideal scenario would be that we could take these cells, freeze them away and thaw them and use them at will."
hi,
please, is "at will" an informal expression?
how do i say to someone who comes to talk to John, an office's colleague, but John's not arrived yet? "stay/feel at will. john is coming soon.'' ?
are the following sentences ok?
''i don't feel at will to take this duty'' ;
"i don't feel at will with my new teacher'' ;
''i feel at will with my new job''.
can i say that ''at will'' always means ''comfortably'' or ''free of obligation''?
thanks.

hi,
please, is "at will" an informal expression? Neutral.
how do i say to someone who comes to talk to John, an office's colleague, but John's not arrived yet? "stay/feel at will. john is coming soon.'' ?
are the following sentences ok? None of them uses the phrase correctly.
''i don't feel at will to take this duty'' ;
"i don't feel at will with my new teacher'' ;
''i feel at will with my new job''.
can i say that ''at will'' always means ''comfortably'' or ''free of obligation''? It has the meaning of "free will" - I am able to do something when I choose to do it.
thanks.

Re: at will
thanks.
what about this sentence, please:
"stay/feel at will. john is coming soon.''
the message that I want to convey is that I would like he/she to feel confortable while john is coming.
thanks.

Re: at will
You cannot use it in this way. It does not mean "feel comfortable". "At will" means to do something as one wishes : as or when it pleases or suits oneself.
Your sentence would read "Feel free to stay. John is coming soon."
To use "at will"
They can shoot pool at will
You can to wander at will through the countryside
I could enter and leave the building at will
The horde roamed and plundered at will
