Default send the money

Emily sent the money to someone by post.

1. How do I ask the question if I need to know who sent it?

A. Was the sender of the money Emily?

B. Did Emily send the money?

C. Was it that Mary sent the money?

D. Was it Mary who sent the money?

E. Was Emily the sender of the money?

F. Was the money from Emily?

Please pick all possible answer(s) and explain your answer(s). Any better suggestion?

2. Is it OK to change 'the money' to 'this money' without changing its meaning?

Thanks

All can be used. The most likely and commonest one is (B).

(C) is not directly a question about who sent the money but why the money was sent.

Changing "the money" to "this money" is possible, and will make it more specific about a particular sum of money.

Hi Anglika.

"Changing "the money" to "this money" is possible, and will make it more specific about a particular sum of money."

Can you give me some examples?

Thanks for the reply.

Hi RB.

This money should be enough to pay the bill.
The money should be enough to pay the bill.

What's the difference between the two? Please explain.

Thanks for the reply.

Depending on the context, little or no difference.
