with a fan

The following is a description of the movie Tommy Boy.

Davis Spade's use of sarcasm in this movie is funny. It's used as a cover for his anger. Also, Tommy Boy (played by the late Chris Farley) provides comic relief in many scenes including one with a fan where he is saying "Luke, I am your father."

In the above, does the "fan" refer to "the thing that you wave with your hand which makes the air cooler," or some other thing?

Thanks. ;-). I'd never have guessed. For some reason I was trying to fit one of the old-style manual fans (the sort that Eliza Doolittle has to use - http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:..._lovebound.jpg) into the image, and it just didn't work.
